While we all know that new stars emerge in the music and film industries every now and then, did you know that new stars are constantly being born in the heavens? Our Milky Way galaxy averages about 6-7 new stars born each year. The Andromeda Galaxy, much larger than our Milky Way, has far fewer, averaging only 1-2 new stars per year. So, with so many galaxies in the universe, how many new stars are born each year? The answer is approximately 150 billion, nearly 20 times more than Earth's total population of 8 billion!
