[Astronomy Fun Facts]:Daylight Saving Time
Back to Home Page

There's an interesting phenomenon in the Gregorian calendar: whatever day of the week March 1st falls on, November 1st will also fall on the same day of the week. Daylight Saving Time in the United States begins at 2:00 AM on the second Sunday of March. Let's take 2024 as an example. The second Sunday of March in 2024 is March 10th. Therefore, the second Sunday of November in 2024 must be November 10th. The first Sunday would then be November 3rd. Daylight Saving Time in the United States ends at 2:00 AM on the first Sunday of November. Therefore, in 2024, Daylight Saving Time in the United States ends at 2:00 AM on November 3rd. Similar coincidences occur in April and July, and September and December. In other words, whatever day of the week April 1st falls on, July 1st will also fall on the same day of the week; whatever day of the week September 1st falls on, December 1st will also fall on the same day of the week.
